Inspired by a strong missionary spirit and the words of Saint Dominic, a small group of French sisters responded to a missionary call from Brazil. They arrived in 1903 and immediately began their ministry of educating the young.
Times changed rapidly, so following Godds call and the signs of the times, the sisters went out to sow the seed to many other parts of Brazil. Is it not true that grain not scattered and sown will go to waste, while the grain that is scattered and sown bears much fruit ? Forming small communities, the sisters went to proclaim the Gospel to all peoples. And so, the grain was scattered and sown.
Today, we are sisters in Brazil, committed to the Gospel and to our society. We are present in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Wherever it is possible to build the Kingdom of God, we work to promote liberation, education and human development. Our commitment to the poor and the excluded of our society is expressed through a variety of ministries : human formation, presence to Basic Ecclesial Communities, parish ministry, social work, workers’ unions, private and public schools, movements for Peace and Justice and other movements.
Through our witness and our action, we seek to transform unjust and inhuman realities to realities of justice, solidarity and equality. Our goal is to bring about here and now the Kingdom of God.
